Biography

Michael  Mayor,  co-founder  of  DBEC,  is  the  emeritus  William N. and Bessie Allyn Professor of Surgery in Orthopaedics  at  The  Geisel School  of  Medicine  at  Dartmouth  and  emeritus  Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at  the  Dartmouth  Hitchcock  Medical  Center.  He received  his  B.E.E. from Yale's Sheffield School of Engineering and his M.D. degree from the Yale School of Medicine.  He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Association,  the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Orthopaedic Research Society.  Mayor has  served with the F4 Committee of ASTM including terms as chairman,  the FDA's  Advisory  Panel  on  Orthopaedic and  Rehabilitation Devices including terms as chairman,  and on the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' and the Orthopaedic  Research  Society's committees.  He has authored over 30 published articles and delivered more than  20 conference presentations on orthopaedic  implant retrieval analysis and biomechanics.  He has served on the thesis committees for bachelors, masters, and PhD students at Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth for thirty years.
